N. B. Updated information on new public meeting times . Please read ! There are two meetings coming up for the public to get information on the Hwy 11 Issue.  The first one is Thursday, Sept. 16th, either at 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm OR from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, at Grace & Speed.  This meeting is intended for Business people.  The next meeting is on Sept. 23rd, from 4 pm to 8 pm again, at Grace & Speed for the general public.  Be aware that this is a very important issue and the future of Gravenhurst could well be at stake.  Please plan to attend one of these meetings. 
 

NEW NEWS OF PROPOSED AMMENDMENT TO ZONING BYLAW 10-04 PERTAINING TO LAKEFRONT PROPERTIES

For your Information, below is  a proposed amendment to zoning bylaw 10-04, and the MBPOA supports this amendment.  The information on a public meeting regarding this amendment is also for your perusal.  If you wish to attend this public meeting, please do so.  The intent of this zoning bylaw amendment is, in the main, to preserve water quality, to preserve lake character and to allow for reasonable expansion of buildings.  Renovation or enlargement can still happen!   We wanted you to know about the meeting and to know that we support this proposed amendment to the zoning bylaw. 

NEW CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF GRAVENHURST - NOTICE OF A PUBLIC MEETING

               CONCERNING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO ZONING BY-LAW 10-04 Being a General Amendment to the Town’s new Comprehensive Zoning By-law 10-04

Respecting Non-complying Dwellings within the Required Setback from the Optimal Summer Water Level TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst will hold a statutory Public Meeting pursuant to Section 34 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, on: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18th, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at the Gravenhurst Municipal Offices (Council Chambers) 5 Pineridge Gate, Gravenhurst, Ontario

THE PURPOSE of the Public Meeting is to obtain public comments and consider a proposed Amendment to the Town’s new Comprehensive Zoning By-law, being By-law 10-04, in accordance with Section 34 of the Planning Act.

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is to amend Section 5.7.2.1 of Zoning By-law 10-04 by inserting new provisions related to the replacement, enlargement and extension of dwellings that encroach into the required setback from the Optimal Summer Water Level. The provisions would require that:

i) the situation of non-compliance is not further increased;

ii) the height of the dwelling is not increased if the dwelling is located within 10 metres of the Optimal Summer Water Level;

iii) the width of the dwelling does not exceed a maximum width based upon the setback from the Optimal Summer Water Level; and,

iv) the dwelling complies with all other provisions of the By-law.

The proposed Zoning By-law Amendment applies to all Waterfront lands with existing residential uses within the Town of Gravenhurst, therefore a key map has not been provided. ANY PERSON OR AGENCY may attend the Public Meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support or in opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst before the By-law is passed; the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst to the Ontario Municipal Board.

IF A PERSON OR PUBLIC BODY does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Corporation of the Town of Gravenhurst before the By-law is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so. WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS AND/OR REQUESTS FOR NOTICE of the passage of the Zoning By-law should be directed to Nicholas Popovich, Manager of Development Services. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION respecting the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is available for review at the Municipal Office - Planning Department, during summer office hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 Fridays). NEW Gravenhurst municipal election 2010 

Are you on the voters list?   Make sure your vote is counted.    

You can vote if you are over 18,a Canadian citizen and own or rent property in Gravenhurst.  Your spouse can also vote.  If you are on the list you will receive a mail in ballot at your permanent address,  that is the address to which they send the tax bill.   It will arrive at the end of September.

 

We are finding that many waterfront owners are not on the list.  To verify that you are on the list

                        then to the tab labeled Town Hall

                        then  to 2010 municipal elections

                        then to the voters list

Fill in the form and if you are on the list it will tell you.

Check also for your spouse. 

If one or both of you is not on the list contact the municipal office

The vote of the waterfront owners is very important.  Make sure we vote and have candidates who respect our interests.
